Your application runs the business. Can anyone safely change it?
BarringtonMedia Software is an application rescue studio for businesses that rely on custom PHP and JavaScript systems that have become hard to update, risky to deploy or too dependent on one developer.
We find out how it works, what could fail and what to fix first.
- From £3,950
- Usually 5 to 10 working days
- Read-only start where possible
- No rewrite sales pitch
Do any of these sound familiar?
The application works today. The risk appears when somebody needs to change it.
- 01
The developer who understands it is leaving, unavailable or overloaded.
- 02
A release can break something unrelated and rollback is difficult.
- 03
Old PHP or framework versions are blocking necessary work.
- 04
Backups exist, but nobody has proved the full application can be restored.

A specialist studio led by someone who has operated software like this.
BarringtonMedia was founded by Richard Barrington-Hill. He brings more than a decade of responsibility for live applications, releases, incidents and staged upgrades.
The studio works alongside CEOs, existing developers and agencies. The aim is to leave the business less dependent, not replace one dependency with another.
About the studioThe short answers.
Does an old application always need a rewrite?
No. A rewrite is one option, not the default answer. The audit shows whether repair, staged improvement or replacement makes commercial sense.
Can you work with our current developer or agency?
Yes. The report can give the existing team a clear priority order and safer starting point.
Does the audit include repairs?
No. It gives you findings, priorities and costed options. Any repair work is agreed separately.
Is this emergency support?
No. Active cyber incidents, digital forensics and 24/7 emergency response need a specialist incident provider.
You do not need to decide whether to repair or rewrite the system.
Establishing that is the first job.
